Academic Medical Center
An academic medical center, medical school and Sound Physicians developed a three-way partnership to provide a fully-integrated academic hospitalist program. The hospitalists are employed by the medical school as faculty with management services provided by Sound Physicians. In the first year of the program Sound Physicians’ performance management led to a reduction in direct cost per case by $1,047 (13%) over the previous year on an annual volume of approximately 6,000 admissions – resulting in an annual cost savings of over $6 million for the academic medical center.
