Physician-Centric Organization

Sound demonstrates its physician-centricity in the following ways:

The Hospitalist Physician - Pivotal to Sound

The primary function of the organization is to support our hospitalists in providing quality care and ensuring patient safety while improving efficiency and contributing to the hospital's success. Our physician-centric culture remains the pillar of our physician recruiting, development and retention.

Manageable Encounters - Balanced Life and Fulfilling Career

Sound values a balanced life for our physicians. The Sound model is based upon manageable daily encounters enabling physicians to provider higher quality care and improved efficiencies while having a fulfilling career.

The Hospitalist Team - Affecting Change and Autonomy

Our hospitalists praise the team approach for its support, synergy and collegiality and appreciate direct involvement in decisions affecting patient care, the practice environment and hospital effectiveness. The hospitalist team is actively engaged in and promotes committee involvement, practice standards, group norms, rules of engagement, scheduling, work loads, and hospital and team efficiency.

Sound Hospitalists - Clinical Operations Consultants

Sound trains hospitalists as clinical operations consultants to address inefficiencies in the hospital. Our hospitalists earn the confidence and trust of hospital administration and staff as invaluable partners in improving the inpatient experience.

Organization - Physician Led

The Chief Hospitalists lead the team and report to the regional Chief Medical Officer who provides on-site support, liaisons with organization management and broadens collegial relationships across the hospitalist teams. Sound is committed to creating an extensive Sound hospitalist community; this places Sound as a leader among hospitalist organizations.

Professional Growth Opportunities

Professional development is essential to the Sound organization; we provide professional growth opportunities and avenues for career enhancement. As the organization continues to grow, we seek leadership talent from within Sound. We encourage and support individuals in coming forward with ideas and plans that support hospitalist effectiveness, add value to hospitals, and more.

Sound, as a learning organization, uses the power of our collective knowledge. Our Chief Medical Officers, as members of the organization leadership team, promote sharing knowledge across hospital teams to continually improve the practice of hospital medicine.

SIP Hospitalist Institute

The SIP Hospitalist Institute is a valuable resource for ongoing educational and professional development. Training modules include leadership, communication, risk management, hospitalist efficiency, team building, and more.

Sound Advice, a quarterly publication of the SIP Hospitalist Institute, is written by Sound hospitalists and addresses clinical issues and questions raised by hospitalists.
