Dr. Bessler founded Sound Physicians in 2001, and continues to provide strategic vision and leadership to the organization. Rob ensures the organization partners seamlessly with Sound’s hospital partners, patients and payors to improve quality, satisfaction and efficiency while reducing the cost of care nationwide. As a healthcare leader, he appreciates the importance of building an outstanding career opportunity for Sound’s physicians. By creating a better career for physicians Sound has grown into the thriving organization Sound is today. He is a leading advocate in public policy affairs and works on behalf of hospitalist physicians and supports the Society of Hospital Medicine’s efforts in this area. Rob is a nationally recognized expert in hospitalist program design and management. Rob is a frequent speaker at major healthcare conferences on the impact of clinical process excellence and its impact on the economics of hospital medicine. Dr. Bessler’s work on developing clinical models to improve healthcare outcomes is sought after by hospital executives and payors around the country.
Rob is board certified in emergency medicine. He earned his medical degree and graduated with honors from Case Western Reserve School of Medicine. He completed his emergency medicine residency at The Cleveland Clinic and Metrohealth Medical Center. Prior to medical school he earned a B.A. in economics from Tufts University. Earlier entrepreneurial endeavors include founding a medical device company and a physician practice management business. Despite Rob’s busy schedule working with the Sound management team, its physicians and partner hospitals, Rob continues to see patients a few days per month to fulfill his passion for clinical care.
