Value-Based Purchasing

In FY 2013, CMS will withhold approximately $850 million from hospitals under the Medicare Inpatient Prospective Payment System. Performance on clinical quality and patient experience of care measures measured from July 1, 2011, determines how much each hospital will “earn back” through value-based incentive payments.
